Question
What is the difference betwen HopkinsOne, SAP and Shared Services?
Answer
“HopkinsOne” represents the formal project through which several administrative legacy systems and underlying processes have been replaced with the “SAP” suite of integrated administrative operations. “SAP” is the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) suite of applications selected by Johns Hopkins as part of its transition to a more sophisticated and integrated administrative system. “Shared Services” represents a group of centralized transaction processing centers that support administrative functions of Johns Hopkins, including the university, Health System and affiliates. Shared Service organizations have been established for the following core administrative areas: Accounts Receivable; Accounts Payable; Sponsored Projects; Project Systems; Supply Chain (e.g., Purchasing, Inventory and Warehouse Management); Human Resources and Benefits; and Payroll.
